  • On Wednesday, June 18, News Generation held a radio panel discussion to address successful pitching, good radio content, the state of the radio newsroom, and the general dos and don'ts of getting stories on the air. We were fortunate to have a distinguished panel of radio producers, reporters, and assignment editors from the Washington-DC area to share their insights and expertise. The panelists included: Meymo Lyons from WAMU, Mitchell Miller from WTOP, David Oziel of Westwood One, Jen Richer from WMAL, and Stephanie Wells from WTGB. The event brought together DC's best and brightest in the radio, communications, and PR fields for an informative and spirited discussion.   • On Thursday, June 5, 2008, News Generation and The Weather Channel were awarded a 2008 Bronze Anvil Award in the audio programs category for the campaign "Preparedness on the Airwaves: Using Radio for Weather Preparedness, Awareness, and Safety."  Sponsored by the Public Relations Society of America, (PRSA), the Bronze Anvil Awards were created in 1969 to recognize outstanding public relations tactics, individual items or components of programs or campaigns. The entry was selected as one of 58 winners from among nearly 900 entries. The PRSA Bronze Anvil Awards are among the highest honors in the public relations industry.

  • On Tuesday, April 8, 2008, News Generation and The Weather Channel were awarded the Silver Bulldog Reporter Award for the campaign "Preparedness on the Airwaves: Using Radio for Weather Preparedness, Awareness, and Safety." The Bulldog Awards is the only PR awards program judged entirely by journalists.

  • On Thursday, November 8, 2007, PRSA Georgia Chapter held their annual Phoenix Awards Celebration at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta. The awards recognize the projects and programs that demonstrate excellence in the public relations profession in Georgia. This year’s Phoenix Award in the "Audio Programs" category was awarded to The Weather Channel and News Generation, Inc. for the 2006 outreach to 67 million listeners, which educated the public on weather preparedness, awareness and safety.
  • On Thursday, September 20, 2007, the best and brightest in public relations from the Washington, DC-area were recognized by the National Capital Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) at its annual Thoth Awards at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. The Thoth Award in the "Audio Programs" category was awarded to Fight Crime: Invest in Kids and News Generation, Inc. for the 2006 outreach to 6.4 million listeners regarding the benefits of early childhood education and how it leads to the prevention of crime in the future.

  • On Monday, June 11, 2007, at the Media Relations Conference in Washington, DC, News Generation and Fight Crime: Invest in Kids won a Bulldog Award for the campaign "Fighting Crime Across America." The 2005/2006 campaign, made up of eight audio news releases in four states aimed to invest in education to prevent crime and violence, garnered nearly seven million radio listeners total.
