Having just returned from Athens, Georgia,  I wanted to share with you a rare gem.  A new building housing the Special Collections at the University of Georgia has just recently opened.  In the Special Collections is a section on Peabody Award Winners for excellence in broadcast journalism. Featured in this section is Diane Rehm as an example of interviewing skill and expertise.

As host of “The Diane Rehm Show” on public radio stations nationwide, Diane explores political and human interest topics through artful interviews.  Her guests explore issues ranging  from historical topics like the anniversary of the War of 1812 to political hot buttons like the Keystone Pipeline to health topics like heart disease.

At the heart of all of Diane’s interviews is an element of insatiable curiosity.  She brings natural  urge to question and and absorb as much information as possible about any given topic for her listeners, and this is what makes her such a standout interviewer and successful talk show host.  On her show’s website, the tagline is “One of the guests is always you,” meaning that she programs around what her listeners are plugged into and that’s what makes her show continually engaging.

Rehm won a Peabody Award in 2009.
