As radio continues to evolve and change, it’s no surprise that people are spending more time listening online or through streaming apps. Currently, iHeartMedia’s streaming service, iHeartRadio, is one of the most popular platforms for online listening. Earlier this month, iHeartRadio exceeded 90 million registered users, a landmark not yet reached by any other music service or even Facebook. Moreover, since people who listen to the group’s live radio stations do not need to register, the reach of iHeartMedia is much greater than any other similar platform.
Since its launch in 2011, as a free online streaming service, iHeartMedia aims to meet the needs of its listeners by constantly adding new platforms and programming. A recent partnership with NPR allowed NPR stations to make their programming available through streaming on iHeartRadio. Additionally, with the popularity of podcasts, a new partnership with Libsyn increased the number of such offerings available on the iHeartRadio app.
Overall, iHeartMedia has had a successful year in meeting the needs and demands of today’s radio listeners. It will be interesting to see what new features they offer their members in the future.
