BIA Advisory Services recently ranked the top local radio stations as part of its Investing in Radio Market Report. WTOP-FM, based in Washington DC, ranked No. 1 in both 2017 and 2016. In 2017, its revenues were $67,800,000, according to BIA. The consistency in WTOP’s top ranking from 2016 to 2017 is a testament to its position, not only in the DC market, but around the country as well. And, this report emphasizes that local radio remains a top influencer within local markets. KIIS, Los Angeles, CA; and WHTZ, New York, NY came in second and third, respectively.

The report also found that the radio industry reported a 9.7% percent increase in online revenues in 2017, compared with a slight decline in over-the-air income – of 2.0 percent.
